The quiet four-block neighborhood known as Beal Town appears to be the next big thing in Northville.
Many homes have been remodeled and expanded in recent years. More recently, two homes (which were beyond repair) were demolished in preparation for new custom homes. All of this improvement activity is driving up home values and resulting in quick sales.
Both of the new custom homes will be built by Mike Miller Building Company, a popular local custom home builder.
What could be driving all the excitement in Beal Town? A few factors may be at play:
- The overall desirability of the city of Northville. It’s hard to find real estate in Northville these days, especially near downtown Northville (Beal Town is between two and four blocks from downtown).
- Character. True to the classic style of downtown Northville, Beal Town is full of homes built from the late 1800s to mid 1900s.
- No hassles. Even though Beal Town homes have the classic character of Northville, it doesn’t come with the requirements that come with historic district designation. Because Beal Town is not in the Northville Historic District, homes can be freely remodeled or modified to an owner’s desire (of course there are standard city ordinances and building codes as in any other city).
- Possibly the last frontier for custom home builders. As custom homes become increasingly popular among home buyers, the availability of land in downtown Northville becomes more scarce. Beal Town is possibly the last place you can find property that may be suitable to build a custom home.
- Neighborhood amenities. Within a block or two residents can find businesses such as a yoga studio, dry cleaners, pizza delivery, gas station, bar, family doctor/walk-in clinic and even a custom winery.
Of course, desirable features of a neighborhood vary from buyer to buyer so this list may not be all inclusive. If you’d like to learn more about the Beal Town neighborhood of Northville, contact me. I can even take you on a private tour of my latest Beal Town listing, 410 Yerkes.
